Border Patrol agent injured in drug bust
Agent’s car rolled while chasing drug smuggling suspect

A Border Patrol agent chasing a drug suspect rolled his car and suffered injuries Saturday morning near Eagle Pass.

Agents spotted the car on Hwy. 277 north of Eagle Pass. When they tried to stop it the suspect drove away and into a pasture.

They say he then jumped out and tried to run but was caught by agents. During the chase the Border Patrol agent rolled his vehicle. An AirLife helicopter flew the agent to University Hospital in San Antonio for treatment.

Agents found bundles of marijuana inside that suspect’s car. They say the 229 pounds of pot is worth more than $183,000.

Border Patrol says they have the drug smuggling suspect awaiting prosecution. No word on the Border Patrol agent’s condition.
