Border Patrol Agent Rescues 5-Year-Old Girl From Rio Grande

Early in the morning on Friday, April 11, 2014, Border Patrol agents observed a group of illegal aliens cross the Rio Grande River into the United States near the train bridge in Eagle Pass, Texas. However, while swimming across the river, a 24-year-old Honduran woman let go of her 5-year-old sister, who quickly began to struggle to stay afloat in the river. A Border Patrol agent jumped into the river and pulled her to safety.

It is unknown if the woman and her sister were turned over to ICE for deportation to Honduras or if they were released on their own recognizance to further travel into the United States.
