CBP is Still Trying to De-Authorize AUO

Executive board members of the National Border Patrol Council announced this afternoon that CBP still intends to de-authorize AUO on April 7. Furloughs, however, are not supposed to take place.

At the moment, nothing is official. It is now more important than ever to contact your representatives in Congress to let them know what CBP is trying to do (off duty, of course!). Explain to them that even though Congress fully funded CBP for the rest of the fiscal year, CBP has decided to thumb its nose at them and not use the money as it was intended. Not only will this result in serious financial hardship for Border Patrol families, it will leave large gaps in coverage up and down the borders. Make Congress hold CBP accountable for its obligation to protect the border.
