The Senate’s “Gang of Eight” promises a 90 percent “effectiveness rate” in its new immigration reform bill, introduced to the United States Senate today. If the 90 percent number is not met, it may trigger an additional surge of over 2 billion dollars to make this effectiveness rate achievable. The pathway to citizenship for over 11 million illegal immigrants will continue regardless of whether the 90 percent effectiveness rate is ever met. Additional changes that may directly impact Border Patrol employees include analysis of feasibility of more sectors and stations along the southern Border, updated Forward Operating Bases (FOBs), more electronic surveillance and an increase in aerial drones.
