This past Monday, September 19, 2011, Del Rio Sector Border Patrol employees lost a brother in green. Alejandro Acevedo passed away at approximately 7:00 p.m. from multiple gunshot wounds received in a shootout at his home.
While there are some mysteries surrounding the details of Agent Acevedo’s death, there are two things that we are certain of. First, Agent Acevedo will be deeply missed by his co-workers at the Eagle Pass North station. He was an exemplary employee and a role model to his fellow agents. Second, Alejandro was a consummate family man. He defined himself by his wife and kids. He proved this by protecting his children, even though in the end it meant disregarding his own safety and well-being. While Alejandro was both of these things, these words cannot even begin to define the man that Alejandro was. Brissa Acevedo, Alejandro’s wife, has provided the following, more personal, message:
“To a beautiful, loving son, brother, uncle, cousin friend and husband, you were a perfect father to your Mya ‘Pig’, Alejandro Jr. ‘Amigo’ and Alissa your ‘Lady Boo.’
He always said his kids were his life and that he would give it any day for them. That is exactly what he did. He protected and fought for his children to the end.
He was also a perfect husband. He was an understanding, loving, playful and committed family man. He will always be the love of my life and he will always be the best father my children could have had. May God have his spirit in his beautiful kingdom. Alex will forever be in our hearts.
Thanks to all the friends, colleagues and family members who have had Alex and our family in their prayers. It is greatly appreciated.
Special thanks to Janette and Nick Soto, Xiomara and Sam Martir Rondon, Maribel Garay, the Cardenas family, the Burch family, Cantu family, Lopez family, Joel Delacruz, Steve Veloz, Steven Gonzalez, Alfredo Paulasosa, Mr. C. Cantu and Mr. R. Banda.”
